NEWSTHE RUN FOR PRENTICE 2011 We would like to thank our patients, colleagues, families and friends for their support of The Run for Prentice 2011!! Now in its second year as a contributing charity for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, The Run for Prentice team of 89 runners was able to raise over $102,000 to support the efforts of the Prentice Ambulatory Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.The weather and the course made for ideal conditions, and all of us had a wonderful experience. We plan to develop and grow this program for 2012 so it can continue to benefit the Northwestern and Chicago communities at large in numerous ways. GIRLS ON THE RUN-CHICAGO PROGRAMGirls on the Run-Chicago Program has been chosen to receive a grant in the amount of $10,000 on behalf of Dr. Elena Kamel and Dr. Julie Levitt. The funding is intended to expand the program to an increased number of schools with focus on low-income areas, thereby proving significant community benefit in furtherance of Northwestern Memorial Hospital's mission.Girls on the Run programs run through schools and community centers throughout Cook, Lake, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties. This program is for girls, ages eight to thirteen. The program is designed to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. The girls are trained for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts.
